A.A.C.T. is an association for arrest control, defensive tactics, and open hand combatives trainers. When it comes to hand to hand training, there are multiple disciplines/programs/systems that are used for law enforcement professionals throughout Colorado in basic academy, in-service training, or advanced curriculum training.
This variety often leads to inconsistency for officers who find themselves in a lateral transfer to another agency, working as part of a joint task force, or working in overlapping jurisdictions that have differing (and sometimes contrasting) use of force policies. Add into the mix ground fighting and edged weapon training, and things can become confusingly inconsistent. The key is information sharing.
